  • training gear
  • jogging shoes

  • Q. What if my son/daughter has allergies?
    A. Please be advised that prior to the camp each participant must fill-out a waiver/release form which will outline in full detail any allergies.

    Q. My son/daughter has a special diet?
    A. Please be advised that prior to the camp each participant must fill-out a waiver/release form which will outline in full detail any special diet request.

    Q. My son/daughter gets injured or sick during the camp?
    A. There is a doctor's office on the island with several on-call doctor's. The community is well aware of these soccer camps and the medical staff have been wonderful through the years to respond to our needs. All medical emergencies will be handled by the local medical support team unless we need to visit the hospital. The hospital is located in Comox, which is less than 45 minutes away from the soccer field on Denman Island. In the event of an emergency there is a 911 Ambulance Response Team on the island who will take the person via the ambulance directly to this hospital if needed. Please note, in the event of a 911 the ferry will be redirected to service the needs of the situation.

    Q. My son/daughter comes to the camp with an injury?
    A. the player will report to Shel Brodsgaard prior to the camp regarding the injury and a decision will be made regarding participation. Importantly, participants with injuries prior to camp have still come to participate as we do have the ability to train away from the injured area, or avoid further problems. With this in mind, each situation must be handled on an individual basis.

    Q. My son/daughter would like to visit with family or friends during the camp?
    A. no problem, in fact, IKC encourages family and friends to become familiar with our residential camp environment. Please note, there will be no participants allowed to leave the property with family or friends unless we are notified prior.

    Q. My son/daughter has never been away from home? would like to phone home daily?
    A. there is a tremendous amount of support for all of the participants away from the field. IKC is proud to include mentor coaches in each camp to work with the participants on and off the field. In the event a participant must call home on a regular basis IKC will respect this request as long as the cell phone provided does not become a distration, or get used for anything else (ie. text messaging friends). Please note, it is also possible to use our home phone.

    Q. What about the drop-off and pick-up times?
    A. IKC will meet all residential camp participants at the Petro Canada Gas Station above the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal at 3:30 pm on the Sunday the camp starts. It is essential that you communicate directly with Shel Brodsgaard at 250 334 7957 regarding your travel plans for the camp, as players come from all over and we must know these details prior to the start of camp. If you are delayed en route by plane, ferry, car or train please call to alert us of your delay. Once we have come together as a group at the gas station we will then proceed down to the ferry terminal where we will walk on as a group.

Please do not attempt to sort out the travel to Denman Island for your son/daughter with the BC Ferries attendant, as they are very busy and we must not interfere with the demands of their job. Again, IKC will take care of the situation as a group rather than individual basis. Once on Denman Island IKC will take care of all transportation needs.

IKC will bring all residential campers back on the ferry to the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal on the Friday afternoon of the camp at 2:40 pm. Which means, with no delays we will arrive at 2:50 pm. Please note, during the summer the ferry is remarkably busy and may not run on time, as when traffic demands, the ferry runs back and forth. With this in mind, allow for delays in our group leaving Denman Island as planned. If you should have any concerns call my cell at 250 334 7957. All participants must provide confirmation of drop-off and pick-up details to IKC prior to the start of camp.

    Q. How do we register?
    A. There is no online payment option for IKC. All participants can download the registration form as well as the waiver/release form. Once these are completed and submitted with payment your participation will be confirmed based on availability. Please note, these camps are very popular and fill-up fast. Ensure that you are able to participate by registering as early as possible.

    Q. Will we be notified if payment is received?
    A. IKC confirms all paid registrations by email, or phone if required.

    Q. Do we get to Denman Island?
    A. IKC does not provide transportation off island, which means all participants are required to find their own way by train, plane, bus, automobile or bicycle. IKC will assist with the transfer of participants from the Comox Airport to Denman Island.
